Shejay's™ concept was born
in 2001, out of the notion that female
artists in
electronic music were
overlooked and underexposed. The founders
were not pioneers in
starting an
all-female community, but
began with specific mission, and a
network of 40 members and a small
specialized readership.
By the end of 2004, www.shejay.net
has grown to over 450 female artists
world-wide.
Shejay’s mission is to promote,
feature and discuss female DJs,
vocalists,
VJs and producers. Readers
are able to seek out event and album
reviews, articles and listen to
online
mixes. Extensive interviews
are only clicks away, and each issue’s
cover features the best of the
best
up and coming talent .
Kelly
Sylvia and Mona
Holmes are the co-founders of
the magazine. Kelly - a London-based
DJ, and LA-vocalist/writer Mona spearheaded
the entire development of Shejay in
late 2001. A powerful partnership
was formed, and the official launch
of the site came in December, 2002.
Available for print, radio and television
interviews, both Kelly
and Mona
are lively, articulate, witty women,
who are well-versed in the music industry
and pop culture.
